EVENT NAME: TOUR DES SILOS 6 — EVENT DATE: SUN 30TH MAY 2021
CycleForKate has been established by Rob and Will Sanderson to raise awareness and funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association having lost a wonderful fun loving wife & mum.
Diagnosis of the illness was not straightforward but confirmed on 1st September 2014. 14 weeks later on the 6th December 2014 Kate lost her inevitable battle to this awful disease aged just 50.
Currently there is no prevention, no treatment and no cure..
Not being cyclists the inescapable logic of establishing CycleForKate and doing something new, setting challenges, involving as many people as possible and having fun seemed entirely appropriate.
Calais to Perpignan 2015
The first event was riding 800 miles from Calais to Perpignan over 10 days in July 2015 raising £40K for the MNDA. Recognising that cycling 800 miles isn’t for everyone a more inclusive annual event is now established. Known as “Tour des Silos” , as a result of Rob’s farming connections, circular routes of 25, 50, 78 or 104 mile distances are offered depending upon experience, fitness or ambition.
Tour des Silos 2016 — Present
What started off as a one off event in 2016 has proved to be such an enjoyable day out with folk on their bikes that previous participants have persuaded us to continue in raising awareness and funding for the Association. Amazingly the 5 years to date have now raised in excess of £35k.
Caen to Cannes 2018
The lure of another long distance cycling challenge was too strong so a new team was formed in 2018 cycling from Caen to Cannes with a detour up the iconic Mont Ventoux.
Cross Canada 2022
The next adventure is to cycle from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Vancouver in British Columbia in early Summer 2022. Total distance is 3900 miles with the plan to complete this in 44 days.
A big thank you for all your continued support.

MAKE YOUR OWNroute
Make your own route up to suit you from wherever you live and dedicate your ride on the day to the MNDA by way of a donation of your choice.
Start times will be staggered accordingly with the plan for all riders to FINISH from 15:00pm onwards.
The bar and refreshments will be available for relaxation after the ride. Friends and family join in too. With our connections to the world of rugby we always endeavour for a surprise guest to attend too.
The CycleForKate team hope to welcome you to Winchester on Sunday 30th May 2021 as we continue to raise awareness and funding for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Thank you for all your continued support. Without you this would not be possible.
Are you ready?
We would like to suggest that a minimum donation fee of £20 per rider is made to participate with all funds going to the MNDA. Should any riders wish to raise further additional sponsorship over and above the entry donation this would be warmly welcomed.
Thank you so much for all your ongoing support. We look forward to what will undoubtedly be another memorable event. To donate please click on the "Donate Button" after submitting your form.
